USA tourist visa

The United States of America is the world's third largest country in size and nearly the third largest in terms of population. Located in North America, the country is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean and to the east by the Atlantic Ocean. Along the northern border is Canada and the southern border is Mexico.

Business or tourist visa to the USA

The US offers different type of visiting visa for business and travel and tourism purpose

The type of US visa could be applied as per the purpose of visit

  • B1: it applies to all the applicants who are travelling on business purpose like conference, business negotiation, consult with business association, settle an estate
  • B2: for travel and tourism purpose. This visa is applied to the applicants who wants to travel to explore the beauty of the country, to meet a friend or a relative residing with the country, who are visiting for a competition or a contest or to the persons who are coming for medical reasons.
  • Transit C: an applicant who are travelling to another country but has a short stay or stop in the USA.
  • Transit C-1, D, and C-1/D: for all the crew members of international airlines or crew member of sea vessels travelling to US.
  • If an individual is engaged to a US citizen and planning to marry and live in the US, their fiancé(e) might be able to petition for a US K-1 visa on their behalf. The K-1 visa allows the visa holder to travel to the US to marry their fiancé(e) within 90 days of arriving. After marriage, they might apply for an adjustment of status to get US Green Card.

US B2 Visa details

  • It is generally issued for a period of 6 months but it can also be applied for multiple entry visa for a period of up to 10 years.
  • Applicant should make US consular officials believe that their purpose is not to become an immigrant of their country.
  • You should show the proof of your return to your home country
  • You must book an appointment to submit your biometrics and visa interview
  • Children below 14 and adults above 80 does not require to go to the embassy they can submit the documents at visa application centre.
  • The processing time is 2-3 days. Your passport can be collected at VAC or delivered to you through courier services.

  • A valid passport
  • Proof of funds
  • A cover letter explaining all the necessary details.
  • Adequate insurance
  • Proof of accommodation
  • All the necessary documents

  • Proof of hotel and flight bookings

US C1 Visa

  • C1 visa also known as transit visa is applied to the applicant whose destination is another county but has to take a stop or lay over in US.
  • This visa enables you to take a stop in US
  • This visa doesn’t allow you any other privilege then permission to stay.
  • This visa will be allowed you to stay for the approved time as this is not a visitor visa.
  • This visa contains a validity of 29 days or the date of departure whichever is earlier.

Documents required for US C1 transit visa

  • Completely filled DS-160 application form.
  • A valid passport with at least one blank page.
  • Photograph as specified
  • Proof of having paid transit visa fees.
  • Social media details.
  • Proof that you are allowed to enter the country of your final destination.
  • Ticket or itinerary to your final destination.
  • Cover letter stating the purpose of your visit to your final destination.
  • Proof of having funds to cover your expenses during your transit.
  • Proof that you will return to your home or another country after your stay in the US.
  • Proof of medical health insurance.

US D visa details

  • It is one of the non-immigrant visas issued by US government. This visa is specifically for those people who work on commercial sea vessels or international airlines that go through the U.S. For these sea vessels and airlines to run normal operations, their crew must be allowed to pass through the U.S and make short stops.
  • This visa allows the crew member to stay up to 29 days of duration in US.
  • It can only be used while passing through the US
  • The processing time can vary up to 3 to 5 days or even up to 2 weeks.

Requirements for D visa

To get the visa a person should be working on the vessel or in the airlines travelling to the US and only passing through.

Occupations allowed for this visa

  • Flight attendant or pilot on a commercial airplane
  • Captain, deckhand, or engineer on a sea vessel
  • Lifeguard, waiter, cook, or other supporting staff on cruise ships
  • Trainee on board of a training vessel

Documents required for the US D visa

  • Completed DS-160 application form.
  • Your passport with at least one blank page to be able to affix visa.
  • One photograph fulfilling the requirements set by the U.S authorities.
  • Proof of having paid transit visa fees.
  • Interview confirmation page and its copy
  • Letter describing the purpose of your trip from your company or employer
  • Proof of ties to your home country such as family documents, job contract, lease, or property deed, which prove you do not intend to stay in the U.S for more than 29 days

  • Name of the vessel
  • Period of time you will be in the U.S.
  • Date and port of entry
  • Date and port of exit
  • Your job position with description of duties
  • Your salary while in the U.S.
  • Copies of employer work records from your employer
  • The Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC)
  • Travel authorization from your company
  • Certificates and diplomas verifying your qualifications;
  • Criminal records or letter from authorities stating that you do not have prior convictions
